Gold market and the banking system in the UK

I wanted to share some crucial insights that are particularly relevant given the current financial climate regarding the gold market and the banking system in the UK.

Historically, gold has reached new all-time highs during economic and geopolitical uncertainty. From 1970 to the present, gold has seen an incredible 1400% growth. Just imagine what that kind of performance could do for your wealth. You’d want a part of that, right?

Potential failures in the banking system

At the same time, recent warnings from the Bank of England about potential failures in the banking system raise important questions. There are around 73 million bank accounts in the UK, each covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £85,000. On paper, this means the FSCS covers up to £6.205 trillion in deposits. However, this is purely illustrative, assuming every account exceeds the £85,000 threshold.

Now, imagine if only a quarter of these accounts hold more than £85,000—that would still represent a significant amount of money not fully protected by the FSCS. Should a systemic banking failure occur, the FSCS may not have enough funds to cover every account beyond its limit.

This is not financial advice but simply an important observation about the limitations of the FSCS and something to consider when considering your assets’ security.

In times like these, with banks facing uncertainty and geopolitical tensions—such as the escalating situation in the Middle East—it’s worth asking: what do you think gold is about to do? Given its historical performance and the current global landscape, wouldn’t you agree that now is the perfect time to invest in gold? Can you argue that it isn’t?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and discuss how you can take steps to protect your wealth with gold.
